#1 New York Times Bestseller The Poison Daughter

Sheila Reads and writes

Happy Full Moon!

Interrupting our usual newsletter flow for a good reason this week because....

THE POISON DAUGHTER IS A #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!!!

I'm still a little bit in shock, but I'm over the moon that TPD hit at #1 for Hardcover fiction and #6 for Combined Print & Ebook sales.

It also hit #2 on the USA Today Bestseller List, #6 on the Indiebound National Hardcover Fiction Bestseller List, and #1 on Publisher's Weekly Hardcover Fiction Bestsellers List.

Abroad, The Poison Daughter hit #2 on The Sunday Times Hardcover Bestseller list in the UK and #12 on the Spiegel List in Germany.

I can't thank you all enough for continuing to share this book and I'm so happy to see so many new readers finding it now that it's available in the three largest book markets.

Updates coming soon on the other translations and international editions, but for now, accept my profound gratitude. This book came out at one of the most challenging times in my life, and I'm blown away by how well it's done.

And a special thank you to my publisher, Slowburn, for sending me on tour, to all my conversation partners, all the booksellers who hosted me, and all the readers who came out to see me. You can see the full tour recaps videos here: Collingswood, NYC, Wilmington, Louisville, Phoenix, Seattle, Fairfax. It was so much fun!

And finally I would be remiss not to thank Sarah, Kristen, and Ana, who compiled the videos and pictures I sent every day of tour, kept the inbox clear, the social posts/ads ready, and the art commissions progressing. They are the most patient team a girl could ask for.

UK/Amsterdam Tour Update:

Tickets are selling quickly for all events. Space is limited so click the image below to find out more and get your tickets.

UK Tour:

I will also be doing a five-stop tour across the UK, and finishing in the Netherlands. Click the image below to get tickets. I hope to see you there!

North American Hardcover Inventory:

As I said before, we are running very low on sprayed edge editions. We're already into the second print run, which has plain edges, so if you want those sprayed edges and you see them out and about, don't miss your chance to grab a copy. So far there still seems to be limited stock of first editions at all the major retailers and many indie bookshops, but i don't expect it to last beyond next week.

I know readers have been having trouble finding the book in stores, which is a great problem to have, but frustrating for all of you.

Your best bet is to check online inventory for your favorite retailers. B&N sold out of their stock in just a few days, but they have since restocked and are working on getting books back into their stores. Target and Walmart are also replenishing as quickly as they can.

Order the US/Canada Deluxe hardcover.

German Edition:

I had a few questions about how to purchase the German Edition. Here's a pic of my holding the German language edition from Penguin Random House Germany.

TPD Audiobook Feature:

These two were so locked in on Harlow and Henry and they did an FANTASTIC job. This Duet audiobook is available now and 24.5 hours of listening/fun. Hear a clip of the Laura here, or both Laura and Anthony here.

Order for North America here. The rest of the world here.

TPD Tour Shirts:

If you missed your chance last email, we are keeping the US Tour shirts up a little longer. They are available worldwide but ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE. We're also working on a UK/Amsterdam edition as well, so keep an eye out for that soon.

TBR Stack: (Book Besties Edition)

Not only did i get to see the whole brunch gang on tour, but we all have releases within a month of each other. Check them out:

Kingdom Of Veil And Vow (The Five Realms Book 4) by Jenessa Ren - This is the fourth book in the series and I've been promised a slow burn enemies to lovers romance, a broody guard, and emotional damage. This series is multi-POV and needs to be read in order. I like to think of The Five Realms Series as an adult, edgier spin on some classic disney-esque princess tales. Check out the series by clicking the graphic below.

A Sea of Fate and Starfire (The Naiads of Juile Series #4) by Whit Stanfield - This is the the fourth and final book in this series and I am so excited to read it (and proud or Whit. It's a true Potato Enemies to Potato Lovers Story). It's a classic tale of Siren saves man from drowning in the sea. Man helps her bury a body, then immediately blackmails her into marrying him. (Safe to say that Kye and Henry have similar taste in women.) And best of all, the series is complete on September 3rd, so you have just enough time to catch up. Click the image below and being it all today.

Splintered Kingdom (Shattered Crown Book 2) by Gretchen Powell Fox - This is the follow up to Smoke and Scar and a great book to read if you want a cliffhanger to ruin your life (j/k kindof). The Shattered Crown Series follows Elyria, a shadow-wielding fae warrior and Cedric, an anxious cinnamon roll knight (paging all the Rainer McKay Lovers), as they enter the Crucible, a once every 25 year magical tournament that brings the chance to bring peace to the long warring kingdoms. And in less than two months this series is going to be complete. Click the graphic below to check it out:

Thank you for helping The Poison Daughter Soar

*And don't forget that the original TPD bonus chapter linked in the Book Bonus Chapters Section below, so you can grab one last unhinged glimpse at Henlow.

THE POISON DAUGHTER Q&A:

Q. Are you going on tour an/or to any events this year?

A. You can also find me at Miss Willa's Ever After in WV in September and in Arizona in December at Snowed In. As for a tour, you'll have to stay tuned.

Q. Will there be any special editions of TPD?

A. Yes. The cat is out of the bag on this STUNNING edition from Coveted Cover for their June Box. There will also be two additional preorders SEs that I'm sworn to secrecy about. I loathe keeping my own secrets, but I'm afraid I must for now. I promise I will share loudly and repeatedly as soon as I'm permitted.

Q. Do you offer signed copies?

A. I don't at the present moment. Unfortunately, I don't have time to manage fulfillment. If I'm ever able to offer signed copies in the future, and this newsletter will be the first place to hear about it. I'm always happy to sign yours copies from home if you're coming to an event I'm attending.

Q. I loved TPD. What should I read next from your backlist?

A. If you are mourning the end of TPD and wondering what to do next, I made an Instagram for exactly this purpose and it will help you decide where to go in my backlist.

Q. What's the best way to get more people to read TPD?

A. There are a few things you can do to help the book grow.

First of all, I am forever shamelessly asking for reviews because they are the metric most of the publishing industry uses to gauge readership. I would be very grateful if you would leave a quick one or two-line review for my books on Amazon and Goodreads if you haven't already done so. You can copy the review from one platform to another.

Second, you can request a physical copy of TPD at your local library. Not only does this help me, it also helps local readers find a new romantasy read, and provides evidence that your librarians can use to prove that local readers are using their services. Most libraries have a digital or physical form you can fill out. Your local librarian would probably be thrilled to point you in the direction of it.

Finally, you can recommend the book to your reader friends, share it in Facebook reader groups, tell your local bookstore to stock it, or post about it on social media.

Every little bit counts, and I'm so grateful for your support.
