Full Moon in Virgo - Perfection and Repetition & TPD Art

Sheila Reads and writes

A new moon for grounding our intuition...

This new moon in Virgo offers us insights into our intuitive journey. Virgo energy offers us the grounding we need to better trust that soft intutitive voice in our bones, if we can just release intuition.

It doesn't matter if I'm doing a collective reading for this newsletter or a private reading for a client, there always seems to be some part of the reading that's directed at me. (Stop attacking me, Tarot)

Today's new moon reaidng is no exception. I drew the 9 of Pentacles. This cards asks us to take stock of what we've built and trust that we already have hte skills, resources, and vision to carry us through to our goals.

I am working on my tenth manuscript at the moment and despite the fact that this is BOOK TEN, and that I specifically took a workshop this year on personality and writing that showed me eactly how much of an intuitive writer I am, I still feel likes I'm doing something worng when I sit back and let the story come to me.

Have I done this ten times? Yes. Do I still think I should have a full detailed outline despite never writing that way? Also yes.

I'm sad to say that at the end of the day, we all are victims of thinking the grass is greener for people who have to opposite skil set as sus. We all want to be handed the answers.

The 9 of Pentacles is a reminder of all the hard-earned wisdom we carry and the importance of trusting our ability to build something with our will and self-trust, as much as with skill.

It's not always easy, but the more we listen to ourselves and trust our own personal timing, the more satisfied and focused we will feel.

Happy new moon!

New Moon in Virgo - This new moon is holding up a mirror to show us what we need to adjust intorder to put our energy into the things that matter most to us. Virgo energy can be motivating, but it’s also clarifying.

To conserve energy, we must let go of perfection and anything that doesn’t lead us peacefully toward the life we want. Releasing what we think we need can be challenging. We’re confronted with fear and doubt, but our intuition won’t lead us wrong.

Take a breath and choose the card you feel most drawn to. The card you selected represents what needs to be released for you to most peacefully pursue your goals.

Scroll down for the reveal.

3 of Cups Rx- It's a good time to take stock unreliable friendships in your life. Which relationships are draining you of vital energy and which? These connections don't have your vision and the more you try to justify yourself to them, the more their doubt will bleed into you.

8 of Cups Rx - There is something from your past that has you stuck in grief. Perhaps you experienced a loss that you haven't processed at all, or perhaps some change in your life has unearthed new grief. Take the time to move through that pain, sit with the lessons it brings, and then move forward toward your big goals.

The Tower - Pursuing your grandest goals requires upending you life. You cannot make big leaps while clinging to the familiar. Be bold and embrace the unknown. Chasing what you want means making the space in your daily life for this new goal to bloom.

A LEGACY OF STARS IS OUT NOW:

The audiobook is out in the world, and I'm so excited for everyone to hear it. Emily Woo Zeller and James Fouhey have done an amazing job, and I'm so thrilled that my full backlist is now available on audio.

It's available on Audible, Libro.fm, and anywhere else you get audiobooks, and you can pre-save it on Spotify as well.

Feral Forties Birthday Library Drive Results

Well it happened. I turned 40, and we surpassed our goal!

Thank you!! I'm thrilled to say we had 80 requests for my audiobooks at your local libraries. It means the world to me, and I'm sure your libraries appreciate it also.

The fun doesn't stop here. I had a secret goal of hitting 100 requests, so please feel free to continue to request my audiobooks and other indie audiobooks you love. Put those tax dollars to good use.

Most libraries have an online form, but there are some old-school outliers that have a physical form for you to fill out. You can find all the book details here, including titles, release dates, and ISBN numbers.

THE POISON DAUGHTER Preorder Update:

A reminder that this standalone dark fantasy romance is out October 3, 2025. The ebook preorder is live, and I shared some preorder incentives over on Instagram this week. Most notably, you can get instant access to the first FOUR chapters now with your preorder.

I've received a few questions about the paperback and the hardcover. The hardcover won't be available until a little closer to release, since Ingram decided to start shipping copies three weeks in advance for my last release. I'm avoiding a repeat by putting it up at the last minute.

The paperback won't be out until release week because Amazon doesn't allow for physical preorders.

If you are interested in an ARC and you are not already on my street team, you can fill out the interest form here.

As promised, here's the art by Alice Blake that will be gracing the hardcover case. I'll have the full spread in our next newsletter.

What I'm Writing:

THE POISON DAUGHTER - Final Proof Edits/Formatting

The proofread is complete! Here is a snippet of my proofreader, Tabitha's, final thoughts.

I am working my way through the last of the proofread edits this week, and then I'll be double-checking all my formatting and getting the ebook, paperback, and hardcover ready to go. I can't even believe it. I did manage to put the copy-edited version into a physical proof so that I could give a few away at Villains and Vixens and as part of the preorder tiers.

Look how pretty it is:

BALLAD OF THE HEARTLESS - Drafting Take Two

Plugging away at this draft in between doing prep for THE POISON DAUGHTER release and Villains and Vixens. If I had it my way, I'd be able to focus on this entirely right now, but the life of a published author is navigating these constant starts and stops.

I do feel like the story and the characters are taking shape, and I tend to gain momentum the farther I get into a story, so I have a tentative drafting deadline in my head, and I'm hoping I can make it happen.

For the TBR Stack:

The Possession of Alba Diaz by Isabel Cañas - I have been waiting for this book for over a year. Here's the setup: When a demonic presence awakens deep in a Mexican silver mine, the young woman it seizes must turn to the one man she shouldn't trust...

Needless to say, it's going great. I'm having a great time. Isabel is a horrormance genius, and I'm living my best birthday week reading life.

Book Bonus Chapters:

A Legacy of Stars bonus epilogue is now available here and should be read after finishing the book, as it contains some major spoilers.

Song of the Dark Wood bonus chapter from Cade's POV is now available here. It does contain spoilers and should not be read until after you've finished the book.

Sheila Reads and writes A full moon for wild dreaming... After the muddle of the past few weeks, this full moon is a clarifying moment. Aquarius offers us a safe space for dreaming and encourages us to tap into our weirdest impulses. Aquarian energy pushes us to think outside of the box and to trust in our own originality. Whatever strange clarity is coming to you now, whichever odd steps forward seem suddenly apparent, it's time to trust the wisdom in your weirdness. I drew the 9 of Cups Rx...

Sheila Reads and writes A new moon of courage and chaos... This mercury retrograde came for me hard. As someone born during a mercury retrograde in Leo, I thought I might be spared, but alas, I'm in the thick of it. This is a time of noise, of old lessons returning to test if you've really learned or not. If you are feeling TESTED you are not alone. But mercury retrograde, especially in Leo, the sign of warmth and courage, are also an opportunity to reflect on how we have grown and what...

Sheila Reads and writes A full moon for celebrating progress... A practical Capricorn moon paired up with a lot of major astrological shifts has really made for some chaos in the world, and it shows no signs of slowing down. It figures I drew Temperance for our collective reading. Ah, we met agian, old nemisis. A card that asks us to move slowly, to think before we act, to show discernment and patience as we try to sort through complicated feelings. What a nightmare...amirite??! All jokes...
