THE NEWS IS OUT! THE POISON DAUGHTER IS IN DEVELOPMENT WITH HULU/20TH STUDIOS

I am a truly terrible secret keeper, and sitting on this one the past few months almost took me out.

I can't say much about it yet, but I'm thrilled to be working with the Hulu/20th team for a multi-season TV show. I loved their vision for this world, and I'm very happy to be involved as executive producer for the series! I will share more as soon as I'm able, but for now I'm just really thrilled and grateful for all the support.

I hope you'll forgive me for sending this full moon email a bit late since it's for a very good reason. Instead of sending you a bunch of emails in a row, I decided to combine all the good news into this one. We're taking a little departure from our usual format, with no reading this week. We'll be back to our regularly scheduled tarot reading in two weeks.

What you'll find in the rest of this email:

  • THE POISON DAUGHTER - UK Tour
  • Update on all TPD editions
  • New Henlow art
  • TBR stack
  • Podcast/Media Update
  • TPD Q&A - popular requests
  • TPD Merch

I'm Going on Tour in the UK:

This was just announced this morning, and tickets are very limited, but I will be going on a seven-stop tour across the UK, and finishing in the Netherlands. Click the image below to get tickets. I hope to see you there!

US Tour Update:

The Bookish Shop is now completely SOLD OUT. Burning Pages is also sold out, but there are still some signing line only tickets available here. Hardcovers has moved the event to a theater and added tickets. The rest of the venues are getting up there in ticket sales as well, so please don't delay if you're hoping to attend. I am so excited to see you all.

Waterstones Edition Update

The Waterstones edition of The Poison Daughter is officially sold out, and I don't expect any additional restocks. I'm sorry to disappoint readers who were holding out hope to snag a copy. I really was not expecting them to sell out so quickly! If anything changes, I will be sure to let you all know!

US First Print Run:

I really wish I could guarantee that everyone would get the edition they want. Unfortunately, it's just very difficult to predict demand, and the order numbers and reprints are out of my control. With that in mind, please... if you want the sprayed edge North American Sprayed Edge edition of TPD, I highly, HIGHLY recommend you preorder. The edges are only available on the first print run. I feel compelled to stress that you don't want to procrastinate on this edition because once those edges are gone, they're gone.

There are just a few weeks left for the indie bookstore preorder incentive. Click the image below to find participating bookstore and order.

If you need additional motivation to preorder, my publisher Zando/Slowburn is offering a vellum page overlay of this amazing art by Bryan Camargo for hardcover preorders while supplies last. Just fill out this form to get yours.

You might be a last minute, deadline-driven ADHD friend like me, so let me tell you what I told me when I recently missed out on a fancy first edition, order early. There's no guarantee that this print run won't sell out quickly, and if too many preorders come at the last minute, you might not even be able to find the book in store on release day (and you'll miss out on this art).

This has been a struggle for publishers recently as readers have consistently waited until the very last minute to order.

To incentivize you all more, I am releasing a special scandalous art of Harlow and Henry as we creep ever closer to my delulu preorder goal.

Preorder the US/Canada Deluxe hardcover.

TPD is an August Book of the Month Pick:

I am thrilled that Book of the Month chose The Poison Daughter for one of their August selections. BOTM is the oldest book subscription service in the US, and I'm so excited for so many new readers to find TPD this month and get early access to the new release.

New Harlow Art:

I shared some amazing new artwork from @morgana0anagrom. She did an amazing job with Harlow. She also did some art of Henry that I shared this morning.

TBR Stack:

Raise the Blood by Nenia Campbell - This is a sinfully spicy gothic romance set in the Sierra Nevadas with a wicked villain, a sinister secret society, and a high stakes mystery involving life and death.

In the Media:

Tongue in Cheek Podcast - This was such a deep discussion about the themes in TPD, safe places to be angry, and finding healing in unconventional relationships. I absolutely loved

Apple Podcasts - Spotify

Book Club After Dark - I had a great time talking to these ladies and we went into some of the heavier themes in The Poison Daughter.

Apple Podcasts - Spotify

Goblin's Gonna Yap - This was such a fun chat about The Poison Daughter, indie to trad transitions, and quite a few other side quests. In short, I understood the assignment and yapped my heart out.

Apple Podcasts - Spotify

The Other Side of the Page Podcast - We chatted about the breakout success of The Poison Daughter, all things going indie to trad, chronic illness representation, and more! My favorite part was picking songs for the characters since I am wholeheartedly a song vibes writer.

Apple Podcasts - Spotify

Chapter One Podcast - These ladies did a read along discussion over the past few weeks, which culminated in a chat where I answered all of their burning questions about this world, Harlow, and Henry, and the twists that had them reeling.

Apple Podcasts - Spotify

Book Bits & Chill Podcast - I had the best time chatting with Cassie and Emily (who record live from their beds in pjs) about all things Poison Daughter. There are some light spoilers in here but we give a warning before we get into the most spoilery content. This is a great episode for anyone who isn't related to me (hi mom.)

Apple Podcasts - Spotify

Storybeast Podcast - I was a guest on Story Beast, which is one of my favorite bookish pods. What I love about this show is that they talk so much about the creative journey of writing a book. I love hearing other authors talk about craft, but as we all know, I also just love to yap about it myself.

Apple Podcasts - Spotify

The Broke Book Girls Podcast - I had a lovely chat about The Lost God Series and The Poison Daughter with Anne and Bree of the Broke Book Girls Podcast last week. It will air tomorrow/today, depending on where you are in the world.

THE POISON DAUGHTER Q&A:

Q. When will the TPD audiobook be out?

A. It's coming out along with the new hardcover on August 18, 2026 in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The German translation audiobook will release September 21, 2026.

In the meantime, you can find my entire backlist on audio with some truly phenomenal narrators.

Q. Are you going on tour an/or to any events this year?

A. You can also find me at Miss Willa's Ever After in WV in September and in Arizona in December at Snowed In. As for a tour, you'll have to stay tuned.

Q. Will there be any special editions of TPD?

A. Yes. The cat is out of the bag on this STUNNING edition from Coveted Cover for their June Box. There will also be two additional preorders SEs that I'm sworn to secrecy about. I loathe keeping my own secrets, but I'm afraid I must for now. I promise I will share loudly and repeatedly as soon as I'm permitted.

Q. Do you offer signed copies?

A. I don't at the present moment. Unfortunately, I don't have time to manage fulfillment. If I'm ever able to offer signed copies in the future, and this newsletter will be the first place to hear about it. I'm always happy to sign yours copies from home if you're coming to an event I'm attending.

Q. I loved TPD. What should I read next from your backlist?

A. If you are mourning the end of TPD and wondering what to do next, I made an Instagram for exactly this purpose and it will help you decide where to go in my backlist.

Q. What's the best way to get more people to read TPD?

A. There are a few things you can do to help the book grow.

First of all, I am forever shamelessly asking for reviews because they are the metric most of the publishing industry uses to gauge readership. I would be very grateful if you would leave a quick one or two-line review for my books on Amazon and Goodreads if you haven't already done so. You can copy the review from one platform to another.

Second, you can request a physical copy of TPD at your local library. Not only does this help me, it also helps local readers find a new romantasy read, and provides evidence that your librarians can use to prove that local readers are using their services. Most libraries have a digital or physical form you can fill out. Your local librarian would probably be thrilled to point you in the direction of it.

Finally, you can recommend the book to your reader friends, share it in Facebook reader groups, tell your local bookstore to stock it, or post about it on social media.

Every little bit counts, and I'm so grateful for your support.
