Happy New Moon!
This new moon is here with the waterworks. It's very much "something's got to give" energy. Notice what frustrations come up for you over the next few days and what tasks or projects bring up the most resistance and fatigue.
I drew the Wheel of Fortune for our collective reading. Oh what fun it is to go around and around with the Wheel of Fortune.
I know some people really struggle with this card because it makes them feel like they have no agency over outcomes, but I have always liked it. To me, it's a card that says "i make my own luck". It's a good reminder to show up prepared. Why not plan as if everything is going to work out?
In my experience, it's a reminder to be prepared for good fortune to hit. What opportunity do you want to jump on as soon as it's presented? How can you be ready for it?
The Wheel of Fortune asks us for our willingness to be hopeful. It reminds us to be prepared for anything, which brings most people by default to the "prepare for havoc" setting. The challenge in this is to be ready for things to go better than expected and hold fast to hope.
Wishing you a smooth new moon reset.

TPD UK Indie & Waterstones Update:
I'm also delighted to say that there will be an indie bookseller exclusive edition of The Poison Daughter in the UK market with a different sprayed edge. Check it out below.
Indie UK edition of TPD
The Waterstones edition has already been restocked once. Get it while you can because once it's gone, it's gone!
Australia/New Zealand I've had some questions about whether the hardcover will be available in Australia and New Zealand and my publisher had confirmed that it will. The Poison Daughter will publish in paperback format on 8/18 (still waiting on the design specs) and the standard UK Hardcover will be available in the market starting 9/1. You can preorder those editions here.
TPD Tour Update:
β
I'm blown away by the response to my first tour. The Bookish Shop sold out in the first two hours, and they only have THREE signing line only tickets left.(you can buy here). Burning Pages is also sold out, but there are still 15 signing line only tickets avilable here. Hardcovers has moved the event to a theater and added tickets. The rest of the venues are getting up there in ticket sales as well, so please don't delay if you're hoping to attend. I am so excited to see you all.
FINISHED COPIES OF TPD
I finally received finished copies of the book and OMG it's even more beautiful in person. The print quality is lightyears ahead of print on demand quality. The saturation of the purple of the jacket, the sharpness of the Harlow art on the case, and the quality of the edges are fantastic. The pictures really do not do it a justice, but I dropped one below anyway.
I also announced the indie bookstore preorder incentive. You'll receive some beautiful art and a signed bookplate. Click the image below to find participating bookstore and order.
β
If you need additional motivation to preorder, my publisher Zando/Slowburn is offering a vellum page overlay of this amazing art by Bryan Camargofor hardcover preorders while supplies last. Just fill out this form to get yours.β
You might be a last minute, deadline-driven ADHD friend like me, so let me tell you what I told me when I recently missed out on a fancy first edition, order early. There's no guarantee that this print run won't sell out quickly and if too many preorders come at the last minute, you might not even be able to find the book in store on release day (and you'll miss out on this art).
This has been a struggle for publishers recently as readers have consistently waited until the very last minute to order.
I also shared a stunning and scandalous piece of Henry art by @feyspeaker over on Instagram.
Summer Events Update:
β
I am super excited to be heading to New York in a couple weeks, to help my friend Maggie Sunseri release her upcoming book, The Circle. I just finished reading this book yesterday and it's not to be missed. this is truly a one of a kind book launch party and I hope to see some of you there.
β
I'm also thrilled to join Brittney Arena for the release of To Dance with Death, completion of her duology. I absolutely loooved the first book in this series for the unique world, complex characters, and disability representation. I could not be more excited to get to chat all about this amazing duology at Capricorn's new location!
three cards from the threads of fate tarot face down on a wood surface
New Moon in Cancer - This new moon asks us to do a quick reset on how we are caring for ourselves and reach toward the things that give us hope.
Take a few grounding breaths and choose the card you feel most drawn to.
Then, scroll down for the reading reveal.
What I'm Writing:
Intermission - Something secret
Not trying to be cagey but I can't share about this yet. I promise i will share more when I can.
I have news coming soon about Ballad of the Heartless. Thank you for bearing with me through all the excitement of the last few months, while I try to wrangle this one. More to come.
the world, 7 of wands, and 6 of wands from the threads of fate taror
The World - Watching a project come to completion can be incredibly satisfying, but it can also usher in grief an aimlessness. Try to give yourself grace as you navigate the areas of your life that are coming to a natural end. Some of these endings may even be a relief that offer new ways for you to grow. Whatever feelings arrive, take good care of yourself and give yourself the gift of attention as you work through it.
7 of Wands Rx - If there are old stories from your upbringing that have made you feel preemptively defensive, it's time to rewrite that narrative. Whatever internal turmoil you've been navigating, you may find that the scenarios you imagine in your head, are worse than reality. This new moon offers the gentleness and reflection to write the tale that suits your better.
6 of Wands - Take the time now to celebrate your wins. Don't coast over the big events. Don't move the goal posts. Write down what you've done. Look at how far you're come and do some small ritual to celebrate doing the damn thing.
I hope your card was resonant.
TBR Stack:
The Void Between Stars by JK Ross -This is the second book in the Thorned Sigil series so to avoid spoilers, I'll just share a bit of the book one blurb. When Elle Hawthorne inherits her grandmother's Victorian estate, she doesn't expect to fall through a crack in reality.
Trapped in dying Wynmire, Elle bears the Root-marks her grandmother once carriedβgolden vines spreading across her skin with uncontrollable power. Every faction wants to use her to save or dominate the realm.
Her only protection: Kaelren, the failed prince whose corrupted body bears the scars of trying to claim her power. As Elle's marks spread and her humanity dissolves, she must choose: become destiny's weapon, or forge her own path, even if it costs everything.

In the Media:
Tongue in Cheek Podcast - This was such a deep discussion about the themes in TPD, safe places to be angry, and finding healing in unconventional relationships. I absolutely loved
Goblin's Gonna Yap - This was such a fun chat about The Poison Daughter, indie to trad transitions, and quite a few other side quests. In short, I understood the assignment and yapped my heart out.
The Other Side of the Page Podcast - We chatted about the breakout success of The Poison Daughter, all things going indie to trad, chronic illness representation, and more! My favorite part was picking songs for the characters since I am wholeheartedly a song vibes writer.
Chapter One Podcast - These ladies did a read along discussion over the past few weeks, which culminated in a chat where I answered all of their burning questions about this world, Harlow, and Henry, and the twists that had them reeling.
Book Bits & Chill Podcast - I had the best time chatting with Cassie and Emily (who record live from their beds in pjs) about all things Poison Daughter. There are some light spoilers in here but we give a warning before we get into the most spoilery content. This is a great episode for anyone who isn't related to me (hi mom.)
Storybeast Podcast - I was a guest on Story Beast, which is one of my favorite bookish pods. What I love about this show is that they talk so much about the creative journey of writing a book. I love hearing other authors talk about craft, but as we all know, I also just love to yap about it myself.
The Broke Book Girls Podcast - I had a lovely chat about The Lost God Series and The Poison Daughter with Anne and Bree of the Broke Book Girls Podcast last week. It will air tomorrow/today, depending on where you are in the world.
A. It's coming out along with the new hardcover on August 18, 2026 in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The German translation audiobook will release September 21, 2026.
In the meantime, you can find my entire backlist on audio with some truly phenomenal narrators.
Q. Are you going on tour an/or to any events this year?
A. You can also find me at Miss Willa's Ever After in WV in September and in Arizona in December at Snowed In. As for a tour, you'll have to stay tuned.
Q. Will there be any special editions of TPD?
A. Yes. The cat is out of the bag on this STUNNING edition from Coveted Cover for their June Box. There will also be two additional preorders SEs that I'm sworn to secrecy about. I loathe keeping my own secrets, but I'm afraid I must for now. I promise I will share loudly and repeatedly as soon as I'm permitted.
Q. Do you offer signed copies?
A. I don't at the present moment. Unfortunately, I don't have time to manage fulfillment. If I'm ever able to offer signed copies in the future, and this newsletter will be the first place to hear about it. I'm always happy to sign yours copies from home if you're coming to an event I'm attending.
Q. I loved TPD. What should I read next from your backlist?
Q. What's the best way to get more people to read TPD?
A. There are a few things you can do to help the book grow.
First of all, I am forever shamelessly asking for reviews because they are the metric most of the publishing industry uses to gauge readership. I would be very grateful if you would leave a quick one or two-line review for my books on Amazon and Goodreads if you haven't already done so. You can copy the review from one platform to another.
Second, you can request a physical copy of TPD at your local library. Not only does this help me, it also helps local readers find a new romantasy read, and provides evidence that your librarians can use to prove that local readers are using their services. Most libraries have a digital or physical form you can fill out. Your local librarian would probably be thrilled to point you in the direction of it.
Finally, you can recommend the book to your reader friends, share it in Facebook reader groups, tell your local bookstore to stock it, or post about it on social media.
Every little bit counts, and I'm so grateful for your support.
