New Moon in Sagittarius - New Book Titles & Hermit Energy

Sheila Reads and writes

Happy New Moon!

I am torn between hoping this email finds you (because it's full of some amazing news), and hoping that you're busy doing something fun and too busy to read it.

I am a day early for this new moon, but I know Eveyrone will probably be busy, so I wanted to give you plenty of time to read. I have so much to share. But first, a collective card reading.

Today I drew The Hermit. A hilarious card for a holiday weekend that forces a great deal of us in the US to be around a lot of people. (Also an incredibly SONG OF THE DARK WOOD coded card if there ever was one.)

ANYWAY, The Hermit is a card that asks us to look at the places where we are feeling a desire to retreat. This is a natural time for reflection on the past year. Which goals did you achieve? Which ones did they miss and what can they tell you about your limitations or what support you might want to call in for the year ahead?

The temptation to focus full steam ahead is real right now as we head into the holiday season. But The Hermit is both a reminder and permission to take some quiet moments for reflection and gratitude.

It's also a reminder to pay close attention to what areas of your life you're feeling the most need to retreat from as this can give you valuable information. If that same impulse to retreat has been showing up long-term, it might be time to assess if it's a place or relationship that's still aligned for you. If it's newer it might be more of a need to redirect your energy to yourself so that you can heal, create, and spend your sacred energy nurturing yourself before anyone else.

Even amongst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season The Hermit is a reminder that we can always retreat to the quiet within.

Wishing you a minimally disruptive retrograde.

New Moon in Pisces - This new moon in watery Pisces is an opportunity to notice what emotional patterns were locked into. While new moons are often about setting an intention for creation and new habits, this new moon is more about observing what already exists. We are learning how this awareness can nurture us.⠀
Take a few deep breaths and choose the card you feel most drawn to. The card you select represents how you can best observe the emotional patterns that you're locked into without judgment.

Scroll down for your reveal.

REVEAL TIME - The card you select represents how you can best observe the emotional patterns that you're locked into without judgment.

Ace of Swords - The key to understanding your emotional crutches will be most obvious whenever you are thinking about trying something new. The resistance that arises from change is your first indication of which emotions feel safe to you, and which do not. Let that observation be a guide to exploring how you've managed past changes and what helped you navigate apprehension.

Knight of Pentacles- A lot of what you're feeling is getting lost in the sheer busy-ness of your hectic life. Finding a way to sit in stillness and breathe through big emotions will be most helpful to you right now. This is a great time to build short meditation breaks or a movement practice into your day to hold that time for yourself.

The Empress - Your work is in feeling worthy of the time it takes to process your feelings. Perhaps you grew up in a family system that required you to repress your feelings in order to avoid inconveniencing someone with the burden of your needs. But you owe it to yourself to take the time now, in the privacy of your own heart to feel both the emotions that feel comfortable and the ones that feel too raw and vulnerable.

I hope your reading was resonant.

Exciting SONG OF THE DARK WOOD Update:

Happy to reveal the titles for the rest of the Fable Song Series. I am so excited to dive into these two books next year. I expect Ballad of the Heartless to release in Winter 2026 and Symphony of Nightmares to release in Fall of 2026. That's subject to change but that feels like a realistic timeline right now.

They are all standalones so each book will be a complete story on its own, but if you read from book one through book three, there will be a larger story payoff. The main characters will also change with each book.

Although Rowan and Conor are not the main characters in these books, we will see some familiar faces. If you've read the bonus chapter, then you should have a pretty good hint for book 2. If you read the early order bonus chapter, you should have a good hint for book 3.

If you have not purchased a copy yet, you can find it at your favorite online retailer.

If you have already read the book I would be so grateful if you would leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads. Thank you so much.

THE LOST GOD AUDIOBOOK - OUT NOW!

THE LOST GOD is officially out on audio. This has been an absolute dream for me and I'm so grateful to the narrators, who have done such a fantastic job, especially the incomparable Caitlin Kelly as Cecilia. Huge thanks to my street team as well for helping me get this book out in the world. Tomorrow is the one year book birthday of THE MEMORY CURSE, and I'm doing a giveaway for the first two audiobooks in the series to celebrate.

A quick reminder that the entire LOST GOD series is available for preorder on libro.fm, audible, and wherever you get audiobooks. You can also request it at your local library as it will also be available on Libby and Hoopla.

As I write this, I'm actually listening to an early copy of THE MEMORY CURSE (which comes out in 3 weeks) and I am once again blown away but the fantastic performances. The rest of the release dates are below:

What I'm Writing:

Well, I did it. I sent the spinoff off to seven beta readers this past weekend and now I wait. I'm feeling pretty good about it. The first developmental edit is always a bear, but I think it came out really well and I'm actually excited for Beta Feedback.

I am also excited to finally reveal the spinoff title: A LEGACY OF STARS. This line was hidden in one of the final chapters of THE GODLESS KINGDOM and I have been giggling about that to myself for months. It also just felt like a tremendously appropriate title for this particular story.

You might already be making some guesses, but I'm hoping to be able to do a full cover and blurb reveal for the book in my next email.

In other writing news, I am digging back into my draft of the poison book and hoping to have it finished by the first week of January. I already revealed a lot of titles in this email so I'm going to hold this one until the next full moon to draw out the anticipation.

What I'm Reading:

Changing this section up to let you know about a few fun book sales. As a thank you for all of your support this year, I put the entire LOST GOD Series on sale for a few days this weekend. Sheila Reads and writes A new moon for the dreamers... I wish I could say things have drastically improved since my last email, but it seems the world has only become more chaotic. Over the past two weeks, I've found myself practicing more mindfulness. The more unsettling the world around me is, the more I need to slow down and take a few deep breaths. It's less about practicing stillness, or forcing myself to be calm, than it is about checking in more frequently and noticing when my...

Sheila Reads and writes I hope this email finds you... It didn't feel appropriate to say happy full moon. I hope you are surviving as best you can, given the truly harrowing political climate in the US and around the world. Things feel quite heavy these days. I have a big birthday coming up in August, and I can't help but reflect on how different I thought the world would look by now and how, despite my considerable privilege, it still feels like I'm struggling at almost 40 years old. This is...

Sheila Reads and writes Happy New Moon! I'm going to keep our reading brief today because I wrote a huge craft section. This Taurus new moon is challenging us to embrace the frustration that wells up in response to our own stagnation. It's reminding us that we can't get to a new place by doing the same things we've been doing all along. Changing our negative habits means confronting them and then doing something different, even if we go about it imperfectly. I pulled the 9 of Cups for our...
